Jupiter in Scorpio – passion or obsession?

How big is your passion and does that passion become an obsession? Where to look for it in natal chart? Try searching in the area of Scorpio, especially the area of life which will be highlighted with the transit of Jupiter through Scorpio between 10th October 2017 and 8th November 2018.

This time Jupiter in Scorpio introduced to us in a big style. Everything which is passion in Scorpio – sex, business relationships, evolution of individuality, privacy could be turned into obsession like greed, death, horror, crime, sexual deviations… Passions could be distilled into something even higher but current world affairs show us that is not the case at the moment, at least not for most of the humanity.

Few days before Jupiter entered Scorpio in October 2017 one of the greatest sex  scandals in Hollywood broke out. Harvey Weinstein, one of the most famous film producers in the world and co-founder of Miramax company, was accused by over 50 women from the industry because of sexual harassment. Scandal had such a huge impact that it triggered phenomena which soon got the name “Weinstein effect”  – a global trend in which people come forward to accuse famous and powerful men of sexual misconduct. In his natal chart one of the most dominant aspects is Mars in Scorpio square Pluto in Leo, often a symbol of misused physical power. Some of the other Hollywood superstars in the scandal are Kevin Spacey (born with Jupiter in Scorpio, negatively afflicted by Mercury, Uranus and Moon) and Dustin Hoffman (MC in Scorpio, Jupiter was just transiting this point). Last time the Jupiter entered Scorpio in late October 2005 it was reported that the first man – Andrew Stimpson – was cured from HIV virus.

This astrological position in natal chart is often connected with sex in some way like in the case of Britney Spears and her whole career (become globally famous with album “Baby One More Time”), Sharon Stone and her role in the “Basic Instinct” movie, Jamie Lee Curtis, Farrah Fawcett, Uma Thurman, Iggy Pop and heavily publicized alleged bisexuality of David Bowie. Just try to understand how much cultural shock did he provoke after his interview in Playboy in 1976 confirming that he is indeed, bisexual. Maybe similar like Elvis Presley (also with Jupiter in Scorpio) had when he came on stage and started passionately shaking his hips. Ava Gardner, classical Hollywood femme fatale, is also the member of this group. As is Alain Delon, French actor and sex symbol of 1960’s who connects Jupiter in Scorpio not just with sexuality but with topics of crime and death.

He was accused of being a part of a murder of his bodyguard in 1969 which made numerous headlines connecting him with Corsican mafia and French prime minister. Al Capone pushed the limits of Jupiter in Scorpio in negative direction. He was born with it and died in January 1947 when Jupiter was here. Similar to Charles Manson. His natal Jupiter is on 7° 7′ of Scorpio, he died on 19th November 2017, a week after Jupiter made a transit to this degree. O.J. Simpson is another example which leaves us wondering…is this good position for the person and bad for the society or is this a symbol of our role in society which gives us reword after everything we do as long as it is in tune with our mystical Dharma. He was born with Jupiter in Scorpio, Jupiter was in Scorpio on June 17th 1994 when police was chasing him through streets of L.A. and TV was broadcasting LIVE. He was acquitted for the charge of the murder of his wife and her friend but 13 years latter went to prison for armed robbery and kidnapping. He was released on a parole on October 1st 2017, some 9 days before Jupiter came back to Scorpio.

Jupiter in Scorpio can push the death to extreme levels. You are often under the spotlight here – Presley’s overdose in Las Vegas, River Phoenix and his overdose some 10 days before Jupiter’s return, Tupac Shakur and his violent death, suicide of Ernest Hemingway, execution of courtesan and spy Mata Hari, isolated ending of Napoleon on island St. Helena. But the death which aroused the most violence is the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on June 28th 1914 in Sarajevo. He was born with Jupiter in Scorpio, at the time of his death Jupiter was retrograde in Aquarius making a square transit to his natal, not a strong indicator of apocalyptic events, but the result was WW I which was the base for WW II and numerous other deaths around the world.

Some live the influence of Jupiter in Scorpio, some try to express it through art like Spielberg, Hitchcock, Versace, Tolstoy, Zola, Nabokov, Borges, R.M. Rilke, Ice T, Santana… This is not the time for balance, we left it behind when Jupiter was passing the Libra sign. Now it is time to be passionate, but have in mind, Jupiter’s counterpart Saturn will dictate how passionate can you be and where is the limit.
